Transferrance
So yes, I’ve been thinking about ceramics transfers quite a lot. I haven’t worked on curved surfaces before, so to check out the pitfalls, I tried a rather rushed experiment, cutting vinyl to stick onto a plain mug. It worked out quite well, I think.
Oh, by the way, does anyone have a clue about who might have designed that lovely grey mug from yesterday? Tiel thought maybe it was by Figgjo, but any other leads would be appreciated.Have a great weekend, everyone!

oh thats just stunning. For some reason I can see that design on a hot orange cup.
I stuck the stickers I bought from you on sections of translucent coloured perspex. I’ll send you a photograph.
oooh that looks so good. clever idea!
I have this special paper for my gocco called “artwork cleanup paper” but it also says you can use it for transferring designs onto ceramics. Sounds cool! I wonder if you could do something similar with screen printing…
I’ve done some research on creating your own transfers as I’m planning some designs for pottery, and I know that there is a paper available overseas that can run through a printer or photo-copy machine ( I don’t know about local availability. I know there is a place that will produce transfers for you in CPT but I have to come back to you with a name.
they look wonderful!
For some reason I think having a cup o’ joe out of that mug in the morning might just improve my days…
I love it

These are lovely. I used to work a lot with vinyl at an old job. It was so fun.

Helen, Jesse and I plan to put transfers onto ceramics soon, and we’ll document and publish the process. I hope we work out how to do it!
Hi Heather,
What you did looks great! I’ve been working with ceramic transfers too, I find it quite aifficult process but the results can be really nice! I’m looking forward to see more of your work!
