So, with my knee keeping me very slowed up and domestic in NYC, it would seem my life back in SA is a lot more glam, what with the THREE WHOLE PAGES I scored as the featured designer in the latest issue of Elle Decoration! Check it out:

That’s me, chopped up into three different portions, partially because I just couldn’t decide what to wear for the shoot :) , and also because my working life is quite chopped up into many and varied components.

I made and re-made the little cardboard set over and over, both hand-cut and laser-cut versions, and when it was finally ready, the photographer Justin Patrick was amazingly patient as I got him to photograph masses of my things to deep etch and place afterwards with the help of DECO’s art director Jo Skelton.

When she presented me with this opportunity, Laureen Rossouw, the new editor of DECO, was very insistant that this shoot should be something special, so I worked ridiculously hard on getting everything just right. And in the end, I enjoyed the entire process, and am really happy with the way it turned out.

Also, I gained a profound respect for all the hard work that stylists do when conceptualising, planning and doing a shoot. Really, it’s exhausting work!
