    Cats, shoes & vintage dishes

    17 May 2013

I’m always doodling and sketching, usually whatever is right in front of me, which is probably a little revealing of who I am. Lately, I put together some of my sketches to make a couple of postcards, and it would appear that I draw a lot of pictures of dishes and pots around the house, shoes, and (of course) our dear little cats.

What do you like to draw?

    Bowls

    High Heels

    Cats

I like the way they’ve turned out. If you do too, you can find them for sale in sets of four online, and as single cards in the Skinny laMinx shop at 201 Bree st.

    Find them here in US$

    And here in ZAR.

Nice! I don’t draw, as I can’t, but I love other people’s drawings. You are very talented.

And I love that Esteri Tomula enamel bowl. What is your connection to Finland? This is the second time I see a Finnish design collectible here. Lovely items.

You may not draw, but the photos on your blog are just beautiful! No connection with Finland, apart from a deep-seated attraction to many aspects of Scandinavian style, possibly the result of a Swedish family friend’s beautiful home when I was a child.
Have a lovely weekend, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment (and letting me know the designer’s name!)

Thanks! That is a very kind thing to say about my pictures 🙂

It really intrigues me how ordinary household items from Finland end up to South Africa. The bowl’s name is Tatti. Bolete in English. Everybody used to have them here until plastic took over. When mamas renewed their kitchen arsenal in the 70’s, they threw the old Tatti bowls out. Once their daughters grew up, they started to collect them and this is why they are so much in demand now.

            Hi Mianna
South Africa is full of people from all over the world. My people (four generations ago) came from Ireland, England and Scotland, my husband has Welsh and Danish heritage, my best friend is Swedish, and some of my neighbours are from the DRC, Italy and Estonia! I suppose when they come here, they bring their things along… and eventually they end up in car boot sales 🙂

After I originally left a comment I seem to have clicked on the -Notify me
when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time
a comment is added I receive four emails with the same comment.
Perhaps there is an easy method you are able to remove me from that service?
      Cheers!

        Hi there
Sorry about that. Are you able to let me know on which post you originally left a comment? I’m unable to find your comment prior to this one.
        Best,
        Heather
