I’ve been wearing eyeglasses since I was 8 years old. But imagine if I had never got spectacles.
I couldn’t read, draw, watch movies, enjoy people-watching, notice shadows, birds, shapes, compositions… and a million other things too.
Without glasses, my experience of the world would be vastly different.
In a hugely unequal country like ours, there are so many people who live in a blur of poor vision, missing opportunities and wasting their potential, simply because they can’t afford an eye test or a new pair of specs.
So when I heard about Visionbox, a social enterprise that’s working to improve access to eyecare in underserved communities, it really touched a nerve.
To help raise funds for the foundation, I’ve designed the EYECHART tea towel, using some of the spectacle frames I’ve worn over the years
Your teatowel purchase will help the foundation to provide free eye tests and spectacles to people who can’t afford these things at all.
Watch the video below about the Visionbox Foundation to hear about some of the lives that eye tests have transformed.
