Tapestry resolution
New Year’s resolution: make another dang tapestry! I loved making these.
The blue one is a traditional Florentine embroidery pattern, and the red one I made up. I made it too small to begin with (looked like a pencil bag, not a cushion!), so had to add the solid red panel afterwards.

Those are just beautiful. They could really make a bed or couch a showpiece. If I had done those, I would be so proud!

Hahaha, I loved my ping in your previous post. That was awesome! These cushions are great! Are they hard to do?

Don’t you love it when design accidents happen. That strip or red looks like it was planned from the very beginning.
I love tapestry – you have inspired me to pick it up again. They are both just beautiful!

Thanks for all the positive comments, everyone. I agree with LittleSnoring about those design things that just happen – it’s very satisfying when the materials and scale of object speak for themselves, causing the designer to have to rethink things.
Gary, this kind of tapestry isn’t hard to do at all. Florentine embroidery is particulaly simple, and quite fast, really. It’s a time-consuming pursuit, but very addictive. The red one I made up as I went along and became extremely picky about tiny details, which resulted in looootttss of unpicking!

that red cushion is awesome. LOVE the pattern. and the red panel down the side is a very happy accident – it tops it off nicely!
