    Before, During, and…

    16 Nov 2011

I haven’t been saying much about it on this blog, as I was concerned that things might not run to schedule, but this last week has seen the brand new Skinny laMinx studio/shop progressing apace, and I think I can say (with fingers crossed) that the doors will open in early December.

Renovating is quite stressful, but it’s also ridiculously exciting to see what was a greasy scooter shop transform into an elegant, well-considered space in barely a week! Carpenters in next week, and we’re nearly there.

I can’t say I’m missing that mural. Bees, scooters, castles, clouds. Whatever could it have meant?

Greasy scooter crap, begone! Well, hello, you crisp white studio, you!

Come December, just add one stylish awning, et voila! Skinny laMinx will be in residence. (Recognise the building, Cape Town peeps? Keep watching)

It’s looking ace Heather, what a great transformation. When I saw the last photo with the number 201 my heart skipped a beat as it reminded me of SA, so comforting and familiar to see the shaping(font? … not sure what you call it) of the numbers.
Looking forward to seeing the end result xox

I’ve never thought of those numbers as particularly SA, but now that you say it…
Hope you manage to come down this way and pop in some day soon.
        xx

Best of luck to you on this new space! It looks gorgeous and I love the skylight. In my head, I’m seeing a yellow and white striped awning for some reason!

Enjoy the planning, and let me know if you need any space planning help – I love that stuff 🙂

Oh, yay… it’s going to happen this year! Pre-Christmas! My shopping needs are sorted. 😉 It does already look lovely, and it’s going to so central! Think location is even better than Kloof, just cos it’s easier to swing by for those in vehicles as well as those on foot.

Looking good! Curious.. what’s going to happen to the scooters? Are the previous tenants taking them along or did you get scooters as part of the deal?

I can’t wait to see the shop come together, so sad I live in the US so I can’t come by and take a look in person!

Oh Heather, how exceedingly exciting! I’ve been in my studio for so long – I’d like to move out for a week, just so I can move back in again and start over. Hope you’re having fun with it and it’s not too stressful. Look forward to seeing the final unveil (sadly from a very long way away!)
