Postcards from a Plot Twist
Everyone knows that a thrilling tale hinges around the plot twist: a sudden shift in fortune; the unforeseen turn of events; a stranger comes to town. You know how it goes – the plot twist is where things start getting interesting!
The big plot twist for Skinny laMinx was the cliff-drop in income thanks to high tarrifs on exports to the US, followed by a sucker-punch series of major disruptions to my team.
Ouch!
Cue my decision to step back from it all, and to take a sabbatical, which is what I’ve been doing since May 1, after my last lease ended and final contracts closed.
Now I spend my days in my studio in Salt River, working on breaking the habit of being constantly busy and productive. To be honest, while slowing down and not having deadlines and duties is wonderful, it’s also pretty challenging, and I find myself reverting to ‘busy mode’ all the time.
Which really is NOT the goal right now.
So, to help keep this sabbatical on track, I’ve been sending myself handwritten letters and postcards – wise words, encouragements and reminders, for when old habits and anxious concerns start up.
In my newsletter and on this blog, I’ll be sharing some of these postcards and notes, and perhaps if you’re going through a plot twist too, they’ll help you remember that this is the part where things get juicy!

I love that you struggle with not being busy all the time — default mode — well, no I don’t love that you struggle with it but I absolutely love the postcards to self… I might have to steal that.
Now if there were only a time machine so you could send postcards to a much more future self.
