    Aggregate

    Aggregate
Paul Edmunds is my clever husband, of whom I am so very proud. But he doesn’t like a fuss, so I’m not going to gush, and will simply treat this as a news item:

Last year, Paul won the Tollman Award, and used some of his prize to make this beautiful book about his work from 1995 – 2007.

The book is available through the Joao Ferriera Gallery, and also at Bank Gallery in Durban, where it will be launched tonight at Paul’s opening of his show, also called Aggregate.

Aargh, can’t help myself – I have to gush: Isn’t he just brilliant? Go see the show, Durbanites! I’m taking a flight up on Friday for a weekend in the subtropics. Can’t wait!

I’m glad you gushed otherwise I wouldn’t have made the connection when I opened our local newspaper, The Natal Witness, this morning. An article by Peter Machan (almost a full page) filled with colour photographs. “Reef” really impressed me with the light shining through each intricately carved arrow. I spent quite a while studying all the photographs, amazed at what can be created out of something as uninspiring as cable ties or polystyrene cups. Hope Durban is kind to you and doesn’t fry your brains. It can get pretty hot!
Looking forward to hearing your impressions next week.

wow heather, i was coming to see what you’d been printing and cutting later and was amazed by this revelation that you have such a talented, and now PUBLISHED, husband. His work looks every bit as wonderful as your own, what a great couple.

i keep reading about all you women with the great arty husbands… i want one too, is there somewhere to order one online? there must be a place and it seems that it often also sells beautiful homes, cute (and fairly obedient) children and an abundance of good taste and blog writing skill. Don’t get me wrong, I love the organic farm shop near me, but it doesn’t have any of those things in it. Well, not for the taking anyway :0)

Congrats, i hope his opening went well. and have a great time on your trip.

Hi Heather! You have officially been tagged 🙂 Have fun! Here’s how it works:

      1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.

      2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.

      3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

      4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog

Thanks everyone! I’ll be passing on your nice comments to the artist himself!

Denise (FreshlyFound), it was great to see you there – two weeks in a row now!

Robyn: So pleased you enjoyed the article in the Witness. I read it this morning and really was impressed with the writer.

Cally: Funnily enough, I did find this one in a supermarket, but I have to say I’d been sneaking sidelong glances at him for years, so it wasn’t an impulse buy by any means. Now it’s 12 years later, and I’m glad to say that he hasn’t reached his sell-buy date yet (and neither have I, it seems!)
