Making Friday 26 March
Despite getting a late start this morning (thanks to a fabulously fun Critical Mass ride), my Making Friday seemed endless. I started out by making purses once again, after a little article in Thursday’s Times about the purses I made last week got me loads of orders. Thanks, so much, Audrey Nyathi!
Then, I’m afraid, the making bug went belly-up, as the tidying bug bit, and I got seriously stuck into a massive Sort Out for the rest of the day.
So instead of more purses to show for my Making Friday, I’ll show the overlocked and top-stitched patched tablecloth I finished last weekend. I’ve been making it as a custom order, using linen Summer Weeds napkins. I think it turned out very nicely.
Any other Making Fridays out there? I’d love to hear about them. Happy weekend, everyone.

Since 4 September last year a couple of friends come over to my house on Friday mornings (at least twice a month) to crochet, knit, quilt, embroider or whatever they feel like. We call it Craft Share. Lately we’re sharing a lot of crochet. I take photo’s of what everyones doing and blog it afterwards. C

Great idea! Makes a lot of sense to work and chat at the same time. xx

I spent the whole week with ideas in my head about putting a flower design with couching on a t-shirt I’m making. I got the flower done on Friday, but still had the leaves to go. Then I broke my wrist on Friday night so now there’s no more Making Fridays for me for at least 6 weeks. : ( But at least I got to see how my ideas were working out because otherwise I would had a very frustrated 6 weeks waiting!

Ouch! Sorry to hear about the broken wrist, and how frustrating that you didn’t quite get to finish up… but at least you made a start. Good luck with the healing process. xx

I finally did it! After much internal struggle, this Friday past became “Making Friday” for me. I made new curtains for my bathroom out of fabric from IKEA (sorry Heather, I don’t mean to rub that in your face). It’s the kind of project I always set aside. I’m so glad I was reminded by your post to put it first for once. Thank you!!! Let’s see if I can repeat next Friday…

Wow, your curtains look fantastic! I loved reading your post, and inspired by your yoga teachers words. And, of course, horribly jealous of the amazing fabrics you get to find at IKEA! xx

I don’t have a making friday to share – yet – but I wanted to let you know the table cloth with bits areas of print and unprinted is lovely especially the shapes.

That means a lot, coming from you – thanks so much. I really do enjoy the composing aspect of making these patched things. xx

You’re right – the tablecloth looks great! (And the two blues – of the chair and in the cloth – offset each other nicely.) Is the fabric fairly heavy? It looks like it falls well.

Thanks! I’m glad you like it. The fabric is a cotton/linen blend, and is fairly light, but the stitching adds to the weight and fall of the cloth. Hope the person I made it for likes it too. xx

I wish I could have a full day of making, but alas my time stealing day job doesn’t allow for it. I just manage to fit in bits here and there. When I do have a day off…things are much more productive. Mmmm…now I just need to work towards having more Cupcake Couture time. Love seeing what you made.

Well, if you ask me, you get a heck of a lot done despite your time stealing day job, which is most impressive! xx
