Good to see Cape Town is starting to look after cyclists in the city. Is this the start of a whole network of cycleways? Brisbane is opening its bikeshare scheme in the city in November but have neglected to provide any safe cycle routes linking the bike hire stations. We are all hoping they will be able to pull something out the hat at the last moment.
I love that your bike lanes are nice and wide and very well marked. We have a lot of bike lanes here in Sacramento, but you are putting your lives at risk as they are very narrow (to match the mindset of the car-loving locals who have no respect for cyclists).
Hi Susan Bikes lanes are a very new addition to Cape Town, and I’m sure that most drivers will not perceive them at all! But still, it’s great to see the will for change coming from the City. xx
