    Bev’s outdoor area

    7 Dec 2010

This made me chuckle: While trying to decide which Skinny laMinx cushions to buy for her outside bench, blog reader Beverly put together these mockups of the colour combos she liked, then sent them through, asking for my opinion on which combo rocks most. I can’t decide, so please help! Leave a comment with your vote for Selection 1, 2 or 3. No prizes, I’m afraid. This is all for the sake of  a good looking entertainment area for Beverly.

Hard choice – but I think Selection1 is my favorite, the greens and blues work well with trees and sky.

I like selection 2 best but would replace the dark cloud birds with the grey eep cushion in selection 3. oh dear I may have just complicated this even more…..sorry!

Brilliantly done! I was going to say 3 but now I agree with what Louise said! Do love the red with the grey though 😛
I’ve been no help at all have I, sorry! x

I would go with selection 1. I think the cool greens and blues go really well with the grey of the wall. Selection 2 is ok as well (same reasoning), but the black of the birds is too harsh.

But, in the end, I suppose Beverly has to choose!

      I have to agree.
The first one definitely works the best.
Gives it much more of a calm garden feel.

I was going to say selection 2, the black cushion just makes it pop against that wall.

Definitely selection 1, however I would like to see a pop of red, could she swing out the yellow antler for the red one?

What I meant to say is, could she “switch” out the top yellow pillow for the Duikers in red pillow….

I’d say selection 2, plus the grey eep from selection 3. But is also depends if there’ll be planting there. Selection 2 suits the tree line behind the wall, but if there’s going to be bright flowers or strong red leaves in front of the seating then selection 3…

Option 1 – in my humble opinion! This is the second home deco mock up like this I’ve seen in a week, it must be catching!!

No 1 for me represents the more ‘traditional’ outside colours and they do blend in with the surrounding where as no 3 has the ‘wow’ factor as those red and brown colours really ‘stand out from the crowd’. So conclusion: No 3 rocks the most!

2! It brings in the colours of the dark shadows, plus the trees in the back.

      Do it!

my vote is for selection 2. i think that the pop of the darker colour gives it a contemporary edge and also more Afri-glam.

is it too late to comment? i say section 1 is best because the cool colors go very well with the gray sitting area. section 2 isn’t too bad but the black cushion, as someone else mentioned, is a bit harsh. and i feel like the greens in section 2 aren’t varied enough in shading like it is with the blues in section 1. as for section 3, usually reds and pinks go really well with gray but for some reason this photo makes it all look washed out and doesn’t stand out to me.

Oh my word! And here I thought my decision would be easier!!! Thanks for all the wonderful input – I think I might start with one or two and then get a feel for what else it needs as I get some more plants in there…

      Thanks!
