    Pendleton love

    11 Apr 2011

I don’t know how this could be, but it’s only in the last month or two that I’ve heard about Pendleton woollen blankets, and my love was instant and true. They’re woven by Pendleton Mills, which has been in the wool-weaving business since 1889, when Thomas Kay opened his own mill in Salem, Oregon. I adore these woollen blankets, for their colours, designs, and the fact that the back and the front are equally exquisite.

Lovely! Some of them remind me of the Basotho tribal blankets, complete with the stripe through the design – in fact that’s spurred to write about them now… Thanks for the inspiration!

      Heather,
Clearly great minds think alike 😉
I blogged about these as well a little while and picked some of the same blankets to use in my post! – http://bit.ly/hkhptB

We were in Portland recently and stayed at the Ace Hotel– they had beautiful Pendelton blankets on the bed, and I really wished I had the budget to bring one back to Taiwan. I love the patterns and the just-off color combinations. X

We hope to visit Portland later this year. Definitely leaving space in my luggage for a Pendleton blanket! x

We’ve had this Pendleton throw for well over 20 years and haven’t seen it online (using Google Image searches) after trying from time to time through the years. After seeing your article today I looked again and found this Worthpoint auction photo of it — but no other photos online. I don’t understand why Pendleton discontinued it. It’s so simple and modern.
