    History lesson: Pincushion Protea

    23 May 2018

The Pincushion Protea design has been around for a while, having quite a time of it ever since it started out as a simple papercut in my (now demolished) studio on Buitengraght Street one day way back in 2008. Just look at all the things it has appeared on over the years!

I started selling the cutout as a vinyl sticker, Tammy Frazer used it on one of her beautiful perfumes, and we also started printing it on fabric as tablerunners, tea towels and pillows, with a coordinating print at a smaller scale, which has upholstered countless chairs. We’ve put it on cards and gift tags and trays, and it even ended up on the cover and frontispiece of Nechama Brodie’s Cape Town book!

This print has been so popular for so long, I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon.

        Hi Margie
This was a collaboration with Cape Town parfumier, Tammy Frazer, some time back. The hardwood box contained perfume in a wax form. Isn’t it lovely? These were sold into stores like Anthropologie in the USA, but are long gone by now.
        All the best,
        Heather
