The Pincushion Protea design has been around for a while, having quite a time of it ever since it started out as a simple papercut in my (now demolished) studio on Buitengraght Street one day way back in 2008.
I started selling the cutout as a vinyl sticker, Tammy Frazer used it on one of her beautiful perfumes, and we also started printing it on fabric as tablerunners, tea towels and pillows, with a coordinating print at a smaller scale, which has upholstered countless chairs. We’ve put it on cards and gift tags and trays, and it even ended up on the cover and frontispiece of Nechama Brodie’s Cape Town book!
This print has been so popular for so long, I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon. In fact, why don’t we have more of it?
We’ve just got rolls of the Large Pincushion print, now available to purchase on our cotton basecloth as running metres, and simply perfect for curtaining, cushions and tablecloths too. Watch this space for what we do with it!
