Heading to Porto with Ace Camps

Are you coming to Porto with me in June? I’ll be there with Ace Camps, using the tiles of the city to teach you about how pattern is generated so that you can look at the riches of Porto’s azulejos heritage with fresh eyes.

You’ll also get to paint and fire your very own tile, under the expertise of Porto locals, Alba and Marisa, who are my co-teachers on this trip.

These two are cataloguing the tiles of Porto, researching the historical, technical and design facts about every tile, including finding the author, dating the time period and figuring out which factory produced it. Can you think of any pair better equipped to show us Porto’s azulejos heritage?

So, while I’ll be teaching you how to make your own tiled patterns, Alba and Marisa will also teach you about Portuguese tiles and let you paint your very own.
