Light + Shade : An exhibition
On Wednesday 1 September, ceramicist Sarah Walters and I launch our Light + Shade exhibition at the Sarah Walters Gallery at 7 Wheelan Street, Newlands Village.
We’ve been carrying Sarah’s beautiful mugs in our shop for a while now, but after a conversation we had about how hard it is to find beautiful lamp bases, Sarah set to work figuring out how to make her own.
The result, after months of work, is a spectacular collection of wheel and hand-built ceramic lamp bases in a range of colours and styles.
While Sarah was working on her bases, I was in my studio having a ton of fun with an wonderfully simple printing setup (mostly comprising masking tape), which has resulted in 12 one-of-a-kind lampshades handprinted on linen.
Together, they’re simply spectacular, and we can’t wait to reveal them all!
Join us on Wednesday 1 Sept at the Sarah Walters Gallery in Newlands Village from 10am. The exhibition will run until 30 September.
