Rica Takada-esque-ish
Last week I stated my intention to make a recipe illustration in homage to the work of the fabulous Rica Takada, using this image as my inspiration.
Here’s my rough artwork I sent to the client to give them an idea of what I was planning.
I was very excited to see how much they would like it…
…but they didn’t.
Sigh. I still do though.

In their favour, I think the client just didn’t want to disrupt a style that had already been established, while I was starting to get a bit bored…
