    Paris: Art etc

    11 Jun 2012

We saw some amazing work during our stay, including the Wim Delvoye show at the Louvre, the massive, but curiously intimate, Gerard Richter retrospective at the Pompidou, a tiny Ellsworth Kelly show at the Marian Goodman, an exhaustive retrospective of Robert Crumb’s work at the Musée d’Arte Moderne (detail below), and we visited the Triennale at the Palais de Tokyo, too.

At the galleries, I was mostly looking, not snapping, although I did take a couple of pics on my cellphone, as it seemed everyone’s been using their phones in museums for centuries. I kept my clothes on, though 😉

Elsewhere – on the street, in the Metro and at the airport (I love Charles de Gaulle airport!) – I was better-armed with my proper Canon, and I spotted lots of other art and beautiful form to snap.

And that’s it! I’m back at my desk, full of ideas and energy… and looking forward to a glass of rosé with lunch, I reckon!

Thankyou for sharing – that was a lovely wistful interlude of Parisian whimsy…sandwiched between getting my kids through the bath and into bed. Deep in winter in south Australia, lovely to see colour and cafes, reminds me of a former life!

So glad you could enjoy our trip too! It’s deep winter back in Cape Town too. My fingers and toes are icicles!

Looks like a lovely trip! Do you happen to know who the artist is in the first pic from this post? The picture of the woman painting the portrait?

      Thank you,

        Hi Kris
The artist is Modigliani (but I don’t know who the woman is making the copy, I’m afraid!)

Thank you so much for sharing… a nice little “vacation” for the spirit.
I found your post on the expandOS… and I have to admit that I didn’t even notice the pitcher in the first photo… all I saw was the pattern from the holes and shapes tossed about. Very interesting…. much more than the Styrofoam “peanuts”. (I looked again and really like the simplicity of the pitcher as well)

I really enjoyed all the photos, I have not been to Paris and it was really lovely to see the sights and the food, and art!

        Hi Sheila
Glad you like the Expandos! I am still a big fan, and last year when I visited the Heath Ceramics factory in Sausalito (where the pitcher comes from) I was very excited to see the Expandos machine in action!
        Thanks for visiting my blog,
        Heather
