    Tammis Keefe

    4 Aug 2008

Tammis KeefeIn a somewhat self-destructive impulse, I had a rather tone-lowering post planned for my return to blogging today. But on Friday I discovered the gorgeous handkerchief illustrations by 1940’s designer, Tammis Keefe, and when I spotted a weekend post about her on True-up this morning, I thought the co-incidence was too great not to record with a pick of my favourite designs from the Tammis Keefe Flickr pool.

Check in again tomorrow to see standards drop waaay low on Skinny laMinx…

      Hi Heather
Love the grey/pink/yellow/black colour combo in the sea scene. I’m intrigued as to what tomorrows post will bring…

Wow Heather, another great find. I love the trophy heads, the lion looks so sad.

Wow, those are fantastic! I love the grinning taxidermy heads, and the man reclining in the whale’s belly. -X

Fantastic. I have been thinking about hankie designs for a little while now. I keep spotting cheap cotton hankies in thrift shops and mean to snap them up to practice on. You’ve reminded me to get going on it. I think I’ll have to start off a good deal simpler than these. Aren’t they wonderful. And to think they’re for snot. Tee hee.

OH WOW! I have never heard of her. Simply amazing. Now that I have been checking out her designs, I am thinking that I might have a hair tie designed by her. Wonder if she did those….. I thought the tie was an early Vera but no signature. I need to get that reference book!

As always, thanks for the finds:)

Gosh, I love those patterns. I had heard of the name ‘Tammis Keefe’ before, but I had never figured out it belonged to a real person… 😉 Thought it was a brandname or something.
Been away for a few weeks, but your blog is full of great eye-candy once again. It was also very nice to read the interview on Stephanie Levy’s blog and see you in person. Somehow I had visualised a completely different person… Well, I guess that’s what you always do!
