    Organics at Volksfaden

    18 Mar 2010

I can’t be very cool about this, cos I’m seriously proud and delighted to announce that:

    A. One of my designs is being sold at Volksfaden, and…

    2. (hate it when people do this) it’s part of Volksfaden’s collection of organic cotton prints.

So here it is:  Printed on GOTS certified organic cotton and printed with vegetable dyes. Ladies and gents, I present  ”Linked Birds’, available in gold and in plum.

There are loads of other lovely prints in the organic collection too, by a whole range of designers:

    Mari Green by Hiromi Kimura

What I Wore by Sandra Monat

Daisy Apples by Linda Gaylord (Volksfaden)

    Turtles Black by Jane Foster

I’m honestly thrilled to bits to have one of my designs being sold at Volksfaden. I still can hardly believe it when my designs end up in places like this, which I’ve always regarded with awe. It’s also really a good feeling to finally have an organic product on offer, even if I didn’t do it myself.

That is fantastic although you more than belong there of course. I am following your blog for a little while now and really enjoy the regularity of your posts as well as all the pretty designs and the insights of your life as a busy textile designer. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much! I’ve just been to visit your blog, and love the things you make. Was putting zips into purses myself today, so completely empathise with your feelings about zips 🙂 xx

And so rightly proud you should be (or some iteration of that thought)! It’s a fantastic design on a supreme base good – organics rock no matter how they make into the world b/c it works toward changing mindsets and contributing to a healthier planet and cotton farmer!

Thanks, Jan. I’d love to go organic with my own products too, but while I do have a contact in China through whom I could get organic cotton, I’ve decided to support the (struggling) local textiles industry instead. I hope that one day South Africa will have a viable organic cotton industry too, so I can go organic while supporting my local economy. xx

      1. This is fabulous news and…
      B. Volksfaden is rocking with this idea! I have long dreamed of curating a collection comprised of designers I adore… and she’s doing it! On organics no less! With veggie dyes to boot! Genius.

Happy for you that you are a part of it. Congratulations to everyone involved.
