How patterns keep me fit
Here’s a random (but unsurprising) fact about me: I use patterns to help me reach my exercise goals.
What the heck?
Well, it’s simple. when aiming to do 10 flights of 74 stairs, it’s easy to lose count. So I collect 10 flowers (or stones, or leaves), placing one at the top of every flight, aiming to close the circle I’m creating.
It’s remarkably motivating! How could I go home after 8 flights if the circle remains open at the top of the stairs?
I do the same when I’m jumping my skipping rope, aiming to do 10 sets of 200 skips.
Making patterns is the nicest way to count reps I can think of, don’t you agree?
