Start by cutting paper.
After recently posting about the papercut of a KolKol bush that I made in the Norval Sculpture garden (read about it here), it occurred to me that not everyone knows that a lot of Skinny laMinx designs started with cut paper.
Some of them – like the Pincushion Protea that I cut in my studio one day in 2008 – have ended up on just about EVERYTHING! Read more here >>
And there are others, too, like Flower Fields, Pebble, and Orla, and tea towel designs like Stig and When Everyone Came to Tea, all of which started as a simple papercut.
Click on each pic below to see more of the backstory of each design, and I’ll try to dig up more from the archives too.

Wow gorgeous! I was sitting at home (who isn’t it’s January 2021 & were in lockdown here); & got a piece of rubber stamp cut from art box subscription. I Decided, I want to carve a coffee cup/tea cup collection of stamps. Went googling for rubber stamps DIY & ended up on your site! Thank you for sharing so many beautiful pictures & sharing your art with the world!
