Making Friday: 5 Feb 2011
It was my first proper Making Friday this year, and I have to admit, it was a bit of a washout. I decided to cut some magnets, and made so many mistakes and mis-cuts, it was a bit ridiculous. I was far more successful at putting together a big metal shelf, but can’t possibly photograph that for Making Friday, can I? So here are the three magnets that turned out well, and I’ve got them for sale in my Etsy shop too.

is this magnet with a cork texture available ‘as is’, or did you concoct it? cork can be shockingly hard to cut accurately, these are lovely! xxxtracey

You’re right – cork can tear dreadfully. In this case I used magnetic sheeting with an adhesive side, and onto this I stuck paper that has a thin layer of laminated cork. Cutting through the magnet and such a thin layer of cork seemed to work quite well.
