At the market – bounty!
Saturday was a very, very cold and rainy day, and it was the day that Jesse and I had our stall at the NeighbourGoods Market. Most sensible people were still warm in bed long after we’d set up shop, which was great, because I had lots of room to take plenty of pics.
First, our stall. We didn’t have Liesel’s beautiful porcelain, as she’s on a break in Amsterdam, so we filled up the table with lots of my Eep! and Summer Weeds teatowels and cushions…
…and a pile of Jesse’s gloves, which were soon snapped up by icy-fingered people with just enough movement left in their digits to extract the necessary dosh from their wallets.
Next door to us was the majorly talented Alexandra Höjer and her gorgeous frocks and coats. I really believe this girl is going to go far. I haven’t seen anything else as beautiful, original and well made anywhere in Cape Town. She’s also a mean poker player, I hear.
At her stall, Alex was also selling these beautiful bead purses, earrings and belts. Very stylish.A little further along, Charles’ selection of bric-a-brac, usually good for a treasure or two (more about the treasure I found in tomorrow’s post).Next door to Charles was Mariekie and her extraordinary jewellery, which she sells under the label Skermunkel. I swear, I am going to do my level best to get this gal onto Etsy. She will do so well! And then the food. These pics show just a smidge of the bounty on offer, but I missed the mushrooms, the flat ciabattas, the organic wines, the curries… Seriously, this place is groaning with delectables.
Next month, the market will have expanded into a brand new rear section which will allow more design type things to be sold. There’ll be a bandstand too. See you there!

i love these posts from the market, you always show such lovely things. i really love jesse’s gloves and it’s practically cold and miserable enough over here to use them!

your stand looked so good – that new summers weeds print looks beautiful made up as a cushion cover. the background texture with the litle lines is gorgeous.

I love your tea towels, and I’m so glad I found your blog.
That market looks like a dream to me–I wish I could be there with all the food and handmade goods. And you do have to get the necklace maker onto esty. I need one of those birdies!
