Icy little fingers
Icy little fingers
Lots of cutting was done in my chilly studio on Making Friday last week. I’ve set myself a massively intricate and consequently painfully slow cutting project, and haven’t much to show for it yet, but here’s a little maquette for the big idea…
… and also an illustration of the papercutting gaol I’ve put myself into by starting this project.

Look forward to seeing the end result!

Love the frame one (last pic).

Wow. This looks fantastic but soooo difficult. What happens if you should happen to make a false cut (which of course you don't) – would you have to scrap it and start all over again…?

Every now and again I do tear or break something, but generally I can re-think what I was trying to achieve and make it work in another way. Crossing fingers!

I love your paper cuts! I don't remember how I stumbled onto your blog but I've been checking it out for awhile now and I love your work. You also partly inspired me to start my Etsy shop ( :

This looks great! Looking forward to see the end result. What type of paper do you use?

I found an illustration while at work and brought it home. It's a papercut of a Japanese woman in a kimono and is very intricate. I want to make something similar but was afraid of the detailing. Now that I see how tiny and intricate your detailing is I now have courage to try!!! I absolutely love the second one!!!!!

crikey! this looks fantastic…and very very painstaking…

@Ansie I use ordinary black project paper. It's nothing special, and probably not the best, although it's quite nice and dense, so doesn't rip too easily.@Larien Give it a bash! Cutting is easier than it looks. Just go sloooow.@lusummers Great to hear from you!
