Enormous doily
17 Sep 2009
Did I mention that I’ve been making an enormous doily? Well, it’s not enormous yet, but it will be, and it’s certainly bigger than the person who wrote the pattern anticipated.
I’veย stalled though, as I’ve run out of jute. It’s on the shopping list.
I love love LOVE it! Looks so cool. Quick question – what exactly is jute? And is it soft enough that the doily can be used on a chair back? Retro, I know!
Hi RosyJute is a natural fibre made, I think, from a sisal plant. It's fairly rough, but comes in all different grades and thicknesses, so you might find one that is soft enough for your chair back.h
Hey, guys, so pleased you like it so much! I've got more jute and am speeding ahead. @chika, I did see the ladies and gentlemen project – amazing stuff!@anairam, I'm just using my usual crochet hook, although I should use a bigger one. But all you need is to hook the stuff thru, so it's fine.@karen, it's getting a bit bulky as it grows, but it's pretty easy really. xx
That is quite clever, though I must admit I'm rather distracted looking at your floors! I'm quite envious. I kind of wish I owned this place, so I could rip out the awful gray-blue carpeting, and fix up the parquet flooring underneath… -X
oh it looks FANTASTIC!!I need that pattern!!!!!:)I can't believe I haven't seen your blog before. How terrible of me considering I have one of your pillows ON MY COUCH!!Renee xx

What a brilliant idea! I love to crochet and love your rug. Do you use 'normal' wool or something more hard wearing?
