The Elephant in the room
It’s all over the news that there’s a tiger on the loose in Mphumulanga. Big deal. I’ve got The Elephant right here next to me in my study.
Elephant is a UK-based arts & visual culture magazine. I think it’s called Elephant because it’s a really, really fat magazine, crammed with interesting and in-depth arts-related articles and interviews. But interestingly, despite the size of Elephant, this issue deals a lot with really tiny things, in an extensive section on microworlds in Art.
The other thing featured in this issue of Elephant (and the reason I’m blogging about it) is an article by Ana Ibarra about printing on textiles, where they visit seven designers to talk about how they go about it. There’s work by Monica Romero, Filip Pagowski, Lindsay Alker, Hitomi Kimura, Yuko Uemura (of PataPri), Zoe Beck… and moi!
I’ve never seen Elephant on sale in South Africa, but it’s from the same stable as FRAME and Mark magazines, so perhaps it will make its way into select local bookstores. Keep an eye out for the Elephant in the room.

Hmmmm I keep seeing this magazine on blogs so I may need to check it out as I am in the UK. Not sure which shops it will be in but I will keep an eye out for it.
Congratulations on being featured in it.
