Pearl rocks
Making Friday saw me painting a chalkboard wall in the studio. I had planned this as a Before / After photo story, but that Before wall was yawningly dull, so instead, with a flick of chalk, this post has become a homage to the amazing Pearl, who rocks (as the blackboard wall tells you):
Life before Pearl came to work at Skinny laMinx was becoming horrifyingly frenetic. I was working WAY too hard, trying to do WAY too much. My To Do list was relentless and cruel, as I attempted to design, manage production and wholesale, make business decisions, illustrate and write freelance, and be a nice wife and cat mum. Everything was being done in tiny, furious snatches as I tried to cram it all into my day. Setbacks (inevitable) were intolerable, and resulted in much fury and frustration, and many a hot tear was shed in my overheated car. I got through the days by telling myself I could quit. Dreadful.
But then Pearl appeared on the scene in October last year, and started sorting things out, and since March, she’s become a full-time part of Skinny laMinx. She’s been streamlining, assessing, analysing and strategising, as well as taking over much of the production, all with breathtaking efficiency and decisiveness, and as a result, life is a whole lot better. A Whole. Lot. Better. There’s even time to redecorate the studio.
Thanks, Pearl. You seriously rock.
PS: It’s not even near the Pearl category of appreciation, but I do have to show off my brand new key rack from Dokter & Misses, now living on the Blackboard wall, holding chalk and dusters.

Ooh, your blog rocks too! I’ve just taken a look – what an excellent read. Dokter and Misses are a seriously organised bunch. I suggest you email them and see what the chances are of them posting one to you. It won’t be cheap, getting all the way from South Africa to you, but none of your friends will have one the same, that’s for sure 🙂

Oh yes, I need a chalkboard wall in my house. I say wall, I really want a room, but I might just get away with the back of a closet door or something!
Blue Skies,

I love that little bin/key rack, but I don’t really have anywhere near my door to hang such a thing.
