I am a terrible feed-reading subscriber, and hardly ever end up on actual websites to comment…I feel bad now. I will endeavour to be kinder to you (and others) by actually coming to say when I like something!
Woo hoo! A comment! You just made my day. But seriously, don’t feel obliged in the least. I think it’s a good test of a blogger’s mettle if they keep on doggedly bloggety-blogging, even if it seems like nobody really gives a toss 🙂
xx
Yes, always happily awaiting your blog posts but sometimes I must confess my right hand is resting on my mouse and my left hand is helping to hold my head up! no hands left to type comments. I must do better (*o*)/
Heather, I am in Belfast – Ireland. I read your blog regularly along with a few others and don’t leave comments on any of them. I could rant for many many hours on the whole ‘online’ communication thing but won’t…I will just say your work and lifestyle are fantastic and inspirational and just carry on posting and i’m sure I and many others will continue to read and say nothing….Yes thats it, You have an audience of very good listeners!!
Hi Rene. Thanks so much for your sweet comment. I should probably examine my own commenting behaviour too – often I enjoy what I read, but don’t say so. That said, there really is no need to leave a comment. As I said in an earlier response to another commenter, bloggers aren’t supposed to be doing it for the comments: blogging should be just for the sheer joy of it 🙂
x
Hee! Really, you’re not obliged to comment at all! I’m doing this as much for my enjoyment as for that of the readers (well, that’s mostly true. Comments are very much appreciated every time!) xx
Hey, I just dedicated a whole blog post to you and your deft little fingers so don’t be feeling all, ‘I’m a petunia in an onion patch’ on us girlfriend! Keep saying to yourself, ‘lurking is better than stalking’, that should make you feel better…lol.
still here! i generally only comment if i feel i have something worthwhile or highly amusing to say (not often), or if a post moves me in some way. i love that your highest vote is for “yes, but i’m too shy to comment”. that’s so sweet!
now, i expect a comment in return you know. so get to it! x
Thanks for your comment, Cally. Really, I love it that people enjoy this blog, and comments aren’t necessary at all. Still, great to hear from you (and to know that you’re not all bots) xx
I find I tend to comment to people more on Twitter these days, it’s more immediate. I do pop by here every so often though and enjoy nosing round your studio and wips!
sorry! I usually have just a few minutes a day to read posts, but your first on my list. I am eagerly awaiting your wonderful new line from Cloud 9 for my shop. Does that make up for being a lurker?
Is THAT what the sound is? That’s one moerse wine glass you’ve got there (or knowing you, it’s just incredibly high-quality crystal). Great to see you earlier. MUST do that more often. x
I just found your blog today and I adore it! I promise to be a good “Follow”er and comment as often as possible 🙂 Although I have to admit, I frequently get behind on my blog reading… oops.
Thanks so much for your comment, janee. I also fall behind on blog reading. Don’t know why – it’s always such a treat when I see what everyone else has been up to.
xx
I’m a fan. What can I say except I hope one day I’ll have as many readers as you do. In the meantime, all I can do is hi-jack your blogsite to ask your readers if they might like my blog at http://www.takeaseat.co.za. I think it’s worth a lurk. But then I would, wouldn’t I! Keep up the great work Heather.
Luv your blog – I get every new blog-writing into my inbox in my email – as I subscribed… love this… keeps the creative smile on my face 🙂 Your a inspiration for going out there and doing what you love.
Ditto Charlotte…I read through Google Reader & am usually too lazy to click thru to comment unless it’s majorly earth-shattering. Guess I shouldn’t be too surprised that no one really comment on mine either. <> Sorry.
No need for apologies! I’m also a lurker on blogs – there’s no obligation to comment (except when majorly earth-shattering, of course) 🙂
Thanks for dropping in to leave a comment though.
xx
I only comment when I have something particular to say, otherwise I just enjoy reading and viewing. I sometimes wonder the same thing about my blog, then when I mention I’m thinking about stopping all my friends email me to ask me not to! x x x
Sorry for not commenting. There have been times when I have absolutely green with envy at your midcentury furniture and your amazing mug collection!!! But that is no excuse! I love your work. And I love hearing about CapeTown. I lived there for 9 months during the millienium celebrations when a load of overseas people decended on Cape Town for THE trance party of the century (Vortex)!! Heheh a whole life time ago! I lived in Obs and worked at Cuzmaz (can’t remember the name of the area). Now I am back in the UK and have two sons – a whole different life! Lou xx
You’ll have to bring your sons back to visit some time. I reckon Cape Town’s got even better in the last 11 years. Thanks for your lovely comment, and thanks for reading too!
xx
I have been reading your blog for awhile now, and I have no good excuse why I don’t leave comments! Just too lazy to click out of my reader most of the time. I will try to do better 🙂
love your work! so inspirational! when will you make lovely pencil cases and other bags? i love bags, and i love your prints! and reading your blog; seeing that everyday you work with what you love 🙂 xx
Hey Heather,
My name is Caitlyn Harris and I am a recent follower to your blog. I found your beautiful fabric on Etsy. I am also a paper cut artist and I think your fabric patterns and paper cuts are really inspiring.
Hey again!
I’m sorry I didn’t include my website before I forgot haha but thank you for your interest. I’m a recent graduate from the Kansas City Art Institute and I am interested in all kinds of art but I really like cutting paper. I’m a big fan and I’m hoping to save some money to purchase some of your fine goods soon.
Thanks again
-Caitlyn (caitlynharris.com)
Shame, shame, I’m another lurker! I always find such inspiration in your blog, I’ll have to comment more. Your musings are definitely appreciated and I always enjoy reading what you’re up to 🙂
I read and look forward to your posts every day. I did email through etsy to purchase 3 meters of fabric for my daughter and haven’t heard back, so…..maybe there is a glitch going on?
Thanks so much for your comment, and for reading so faithfully too. I wonder what’s up with that missing email. Won’t you get in touch again at heather@skinnylaminx.com and we can take it from there.
xx Heather
love your blog – i’ve been reading for years but never comment because i don’t have much to add beyond “i love that” “that’s awesome” etc and that would get boring/creepy/obvious that i should invest in a thesaurus. also i feel like – on my own blog at least, commenters take their opinions and well, comments to twitter, or facebook where they know i’ll be and they can get immediate response and interaction. so next time you’re worried about a lack of comments just know that i’m here whispering “oh, thats awesome”. which is also pretty creepy now that i think about it.
Aw, that is such a sweet comment. But jeez, why’d you hold out on me so long? Now that you’ve commented, I got a portal through to your awesome and super-zingy blog, which totally knocked my socks off. I love you Aussie gals – really, you’ve a style and sass that’s quite enviable. And you’re not at all creepy. xx
I visit your blog all the time and love it! Just sometimes a bit lazy about commenting! I have one of your lovely cushions sitting on my sofa here in Norway!
Thanks so much for your comment. I just took a tour of your blog, and apart from feeling a bit chilly (when will your Winter end, you poor Northerners?), I had a great trip. Endlessly envious of that ‘fleamarket season’ you keep taunting your readers with.
x
I admit it, I read your blog via RSS feed on Reader. In my defense I do sometimes comment but it should be more often considering I read every post – well give or take a few when the reader gets a bit out of control and needs to be ‘mark all as read’-ed. I even thought of you when I was home in Canada over Christmas, visiting Ikea more than necessary. We don’t have it here in New Zealand either and I really felt in need of one of your iconic tea towels after returning to this very green and lovely retail wasteland of a country.
So great to hear from you, and really, there is no obligation to comment at all. That said, it’s been sooooo fab to get all these sweet comments in response to my sorry-for-myself blog poll. Thanks sfor checking in. (and yes, we feel each other on that IKEA issue, don’t we?) xx
read your blog constantly in south korea, i’m teaching lil ones and travelling but really miss sa design- so so enjoy reading your blog. ma is buying all the copies of elle decoration so i don’t miss too much. its a real fear! your work, and blog vibe is a real treat. 🙂

I would love to hear about other wonderful South African designers I should check out – it’s hard to keep up with what’s cool and current when you’re so far away.
Keep up the blogging, your audience is quiet but very appreciative 🙂
Thanks for checking in, Justine. Hope you’ve found other blogs like elledecoration.co.za which will also help you keep up with what’s happening in SA design.
