A shelter for unwanted embroidered hankies
I tend to find it difficult to pass those flea market boxes and crates of little embroidered hankies and napkins without having a scratch, and then, inevitably, I’m incapable of leaving those carefully-stitched labours of love in their state of abandonment, and I bring them home. That’s how I ended up with a massive box full of them, which really wasn’t helpful when trying to squeeze everything into my new studio. So, I hardened my heart, and found another sucker (thanks, Ina!) to take them off my hands. But before I sent them packing, I took one last look at the pick of the bunch through my camera lens.
Have a wonderful holiday, everyone. I’ll be spending some time in my studio, enjoying being the only one there, and am sure to do a bit of blogging as I go.
xx

I was just sent a huge box of hankies. I made room for most of them in my ‘studio’, which is really 1/3 or our entire NYC apartment. The hankies only took up one plastic box in studio, though. So glad I came across your blog. Thanks.

I love these – particularly like the the third one down… a sort of 1940s adaptation of those lovely ‘poached egg’ flowers you see on 1920s designs. (No-one ever knows what I man by poached egg flowers so hopefully you know what I mean!)
