Making Friday – 2 March
It might have been due to all the creative energy concentrated in the city over the weekend, as a result of the Design Indaba, but whatever it was, I had a super-productive Making Friday last week. Hooray! After Giselle popped around on Thursday to tend to my window boxes, I couldn’t wait to try my hand at a version of the pinafore apron she’d been wearing, and here’s the result:
That process of forging ahead with cutting and stitching and then reconsidering, unpicking and re-doing is such a marvellously sustained process of thinking with your hands, and I wish I spent more time on figuring out stuff. In the meanwhile, I think this little apron sample is a worthy creature, and I’ll make a few more for my shop 🙂

Beautiful apron Heather! Love this flower design. Athol and I keen to buy some in yellow/green design off you at the end of the year to re-upholster our chaise lounge (same one you grew up with). Lv Gayle
