Making Friday 9 March
I don’t know what this stuff is called, and I don’t even know where I got it from, but it’s rather fab. You can cut any shape you like, then apply a lot of heat, peel off the top layer, and your shape will have fused to the fabric in a slightly rubbery fashion. That’s in theory, and maybe it works if you have some wonderful kind of hot press. However, my little domestic iron wasn’t really up to it, so my Making Friday was much more about process than results, but that’s what it’s all about, folks!

Hi Heather,
It reminds me of the stuff in the US with the quirky name WonderUnder. Here in Joburg I buy it in the Fashion District and I ask for fusible interfacing or iron-on fabric, and it runs me about R60 per meter.
I like the way yours turned out!

Thanks for this! (I love the name WonderUnder too).

Is it a fabric transfer paper? I can get WunderUnder here but it leaves a gluey surface for doing applique.
Whatever it is, the results look good and a nice way to play with new ideas, I’m always in favour of a bit of cutting and sticking 😉

Hi Louise
I’m afraid I don’t know anything more about this stuff. It is vinyl-based, I think.

Hi Heather
I think it’s just called iron-on vinyl. Like the process!

So your husband is the philosopher and you are the logician, then? 😉
Thanks for this
