Instagratification
My blog is suffering thanks to my new-found instagram addiction. Ever since I got my new Samsung phone I’ve been practically documenting every nanosecond of my life on Instagram. Ok, it’s not actually that bad. Although my husband would say it is. I’ve always kept my blog up (even though hardly anyone comments any more… hint hint!) because I find it a useful record for myself of what I’ve been doing, thinking, noticing, making, etc., and I find that Instagram performs a similar function for me.
I took a bit of a trawl back over the past week or two’s Instagram shots and discovered that the geometric fabric prints I’ve been working on have been leaking out through my eyes: B
And I’ve also been thinking about colour a lot. Seems pink still has me in its grasp a bit…
I’ll get back to blogging again soon (unless nobody comments on this post either), but in the meantime, follow me on Instagram at @skinnylaminx. Remember, it’s out of the clutches of the Mac cult now, so if you have Android, you can join in the fun and start photographing your lunch too. Hooray.
Natasha
I’m here, I’m here! Please don’t stop π I don’t have Android or and Iphone, but I’ll probably get something with Instagram next time.
skinnylaminx
Yay! I’ll keep going, promise! xx
Jennifer
Don’t worry, no one comments on my blog either.
I’m a first time visitor here…Your blog is beautiful!
I have a similar Instagram addiction. It’s just so fun and accessible.
skinnylaminx
To tell the truth, I hardly comment on blogs any more either, so I can’t really complain if nobody comments on mine. Although today I’ve had a torrent of comments, which has been awesome. Thanks for visiting, and taking the time to leave a note. xx
Anne
I’m here too π
Instagram is terribly addictive…
i’m becoming a follower right away!
ps: blogged about you yesterday
skinnylaminx
Thanks for the lovely blog post, Anne! I would have left a comment on your blog, but for some reason on some blogs there’s no way for me to comment. Maybe that happens to people who try to comment on mine too π
Thanks for the support and encouragement. xx
Flora
I’ve been really enjoying your Instagram world π
skinnylaminx
Thanks, Flora!

Now following both! I just discovered you/your work a month or so ago, and then was thrilled when I went on a road trip to San Francisco (from Vancouver, Canada) and made a pilgrimage to Heath Ceramics, only to notice a couple days later that the bag I’d bought there was made by you! Love your stuff. π
skinnylaminx
Oh, that’s so nice to hear! I visited Heath for the first time last year. Isn’t it awesome? Did you visit the new tile factory in the Mission too? Sigh. San Francisco is a wonderful place. Hope to get back there soon. xx
arianek
Yes! Went to the new factory and showroom (the factory not yet set up, of course!) – soooo wonderful, it’s a lovely space. And I also made it to the tiny shop in the Ferry building. I was dying to go out to Saulsalito and do the factory tour on the weekend, but I wasn’t feeling well and had to take a rest day. Sadface!
Thank goodness for “next times”, hey?
Loads of SF (and several) pics on my Instagram if you want to snoop! @arianesays π

I always look forward to your blog posts! It’s always fun to see what you’re up to. Put down the phone and get back to the computer! Ok, I guess in the meantime I’ll just have to follow you on instagram π
skinnylaminx
I’ll be back! Just temporarily dazzled by my new tech. Thanks for reading (and commenting too!)
xx

Was at a rather mediocre small town fete last weekend when I suddenly started seeing the world from a Skinnylaminx perspective. So instead of looking at the rather drab and pedestrian whole, I started focussing in on the elements of beauty scattered in the detail. Thanks for sharing your perspectives of life – it inspires me to think creatively.
skinnylaminx
Aw, that is such a nice thing to hear. Are you on Instagram? Let me know – would love to see the details you’re noticing.

Tee hee. I like that comment about the app being out of the hand of the i/Mac cult. I was the first of my family and friends to buy a Samsung phone and one by one they’re all coming across. I haven’t got one to support Instagram, as yet, but when it comes time to upgrade I’ll join you lot of merry snappers. In the meantime I’ll continue to play with a digital compact. The technology in these things – phone or digital compact – is amazing, don’t you think?
skinnylaminx
Hee! I’ve got the fanciest Samsung with a MASSIVE screen and it’s thin as can be, and I can see the Mac cult members shifting uneasily in their seats. Looking fwd to your upgrade so I can enjoy your instagram snappery. xx
Bee
Please keep blogging … love to see what you are up to … your instagram photos are great … Bee π
skinnylaminx
Thanks, Bee!

skinnylaminx
Thanks, Mel! Nice to know that you’re there! xx

Hi Heather – I’ve had the same thing happen with comments dropping off (even though my blog was not that super popular to begin with).
My theory is that it is because of all the people reading on their smart phones – it is just that little bit more work to leave a comment, so people don’t bother.
Keep on blogging I say, because I, for one, am reading
skinnylaminx
I think you’re right. And to be fair, I don’t spend much time reading or commenting on blogs as I used to either. Sometimes I quite like the idea of it being something that I’m doing mostly because I just want to, but a well-place comment now and again really does keep me motivated. xx
Stephanie
Hi Heather! I’ve finally in on the Instagram fun lately too and I also love its speed and ease π I actually feel like kind of a late adapter so it was great to read your post today!!
Gabrielle
Hi Heather –
I’m just an anonymous (greedy!) reader and drooler who follows you daily. Sorry for the lack of comments from my end……I’m usually too dumbfounded to speak!!!
Keep up the amazing blog. You feed me ideas constantly. Thanks so much!
skinnylaminx
No need to apologize! I’m as guilty as anyone of reading and not commenting, so I completely understand. Great to hear from you though! Always good to know there’s someone out there…

Ann-Sofie
Hi, I found your blog just a few weeks ago. I love it, and what you make! I never comment on blogs, I think of them as magazines or newsletters. DonΒ΄t stop blogging π
skinnylaminx
Thanks Ann-Sofie! Great to hear from you. xx
Coelho
So with you on Instagram-fellow addict here! Love it.

Pam
See how the love pours in? Disclaimer: I usually read your posts in Google Reader, so trickier to post comments from there (note to self: be less lazy…click click) x
skinnylaminx
Noooo worries! I know you’re there π x
louise
I enjoy reading and writing comments on blogs.

Ok skins….but your blog has dropped off a little…just saying…. I, like many, check in on it almost every day…. I’m hooked but rarely leave a comment…. Now I know the lack of comment is an equal disappointment to you as no new blog post to me….. I guess I just didn’t realise we were in such a symbiotic relationship…x….chin up toots
skinnylaminx
I like this ‘Skins’ moniker. Reckon I might get it embroidered onto my gym togs. But apart from that Dolly, your comments have galvanised me to re-fire my blogging enthusiasm. In fact, it never did wane, but the increasing sense of a diminishing readership has admittedly shifted it a little down my priority list. My chin’s up and I’ll listen for the subtle sound of the silent majority scrolling down my bloggy ramblings. xx
Dolly Ahern
….I really liked your post of 24 Sept 2010…. As a solicitor I worked almost every public holiday and always got loads done while the office was eerily quiet…rather than feeling sorry for myself it made me feel like I was stealing a march on everyone else and I had lovely creative moments also….. You see Skins…my comments are not good….just not good…..I am however a very good reader of your blog…..don’t disown us silent majority just cos we are…er….silent.
Christien - ZIZO label
hey Heather, what a comments eh? Nice! What’s that note on some new graphic patterns…? I am curious, love graphics, and especially skinny-graphics. Love to see what you are up to!
Love your blog, sense of humor and inspiring creativity… okay, enough for now… away to my own creative space!
