A year of shop windows
Having a shop is really a fantastic thing, but of course, it has some pressures, most particularly, the pressure of keeping the shop window fresh and enticing. Already this year, I have done three shop windows, and so in the spirit of patting myself on the back, I present to you:
Skinny laMinx – a year of shop windows
December 2011 / January 2012 – Our first shop window ever. An elegant arrangement of succulents that made people think that a lovely gardening shop had opened on Bree St.
February 2012 – Our non-threating Valentine’s message was You Make Me Smile, and this window might still be my favourite yet.
March and April 2012 – these seem to have gone unrecorded (what DID we do?), but there’s a lesson in record-keeping for you. Let’s go on to…
May 2012 – We called it Spring into Autumn, and this window was also celebrating the launch of the Flower Dreams collection.
June 2012 – To celebrate the International Month of Aprons (never heard of it?), we did an Aprons window.
July 2012 – A chilly but inspired Making Friday resulted in a window full of Stuffed Succulents.
August is lost in the mists (I bet that window was amazing though), so on to…
September 2012 – We’d just started having lampshades made, and wanted to show off a bit. This window taught us that whatever you put in the window, people want to buy. We sold a lot of lampshades in September.
October 2012 – I was away for much of September, but my clever, clever, clever girls made the most spectacular Springtime window (click the link to see how they did it).
I have a feeling that we decided these giant blooms deserved more time in the sun, so it’s possible that November 2012 may have been new-window-less, but we made up for it in…
December 2012 – Gold leaf (or that’s what it looked like) which we now know is hell to remove from glass.
January 2013 – I was so pleased that my holidays were over that I wrote all different kinds of Happy Happy Happy in the window in the first week of the new year.
February 2013 – My HAPPY got re-used, with the addition of some hand-cut vinyl LUCKY letters for the two day HAPPY LUCKY Seconds Sale last week…
And the recycling continues, as we lose the HAPPY and add something to the LUCKY for our Valentine’s window.

There are fun parts… and not-so-fun parts, but mostly, having a shop has been fantastic. Hope you get to try it some time.

Just the type of shop I would love to be visiting. I stumbled upon your blog while doing a search on paper cutting, and found it to be quite wonderful!
