Happy Birthday, OZCF!
This Saturday marks the first birthday of the amazing volunteer-driven project that has transformed an abandoned suburban bowling green into a thriving, buzzing, living urban farm.
Happy Birthday to the Oranjezicht City Farm!
All the veggies that I used in the Oh My Garden shoot for the 2013/14 Skinny laMinx Lookbook came from the bounteous morning market that takes place every Saturday morning in Heritage Park, so I’ve got extra reason to be wishing the OZCF a very happy day.
Doing the Oh My Garden shoot was quite enlightening for me, because although I often think there are not a lot of greens in the Skinny laMinx fabric range, I found such great combinations of my Olive, Cocoa, Lemon and Humbug colours in a fresh, earthy colour scheme. Visit the Lookbook to see what I mean.
The other exciting news around the garden theme is that I’ve got two ‘new-ish’ tea towel designs. On the left is my Pincushion design, finally available as a tea towel, and on the right is Summer Weeds, which was discontinued for a while, but has been reintroduced because I simply love it so.
This Saturday, the OZCF will be having a special celebratory version of their weekly morning market, so that’s not to be missed. It’s such a great market – really neighbourhoody – and every time I go, there’s something new. (Good coffee to be had there too, as Tamboerswinkel somehow manages to heave a spare coffee machine up there once a week.)
While you’re at the market, please don’t miss the opportunity to do a tour of the veggie garden, and to consider joining the volunteer programme and making a donation to keep this amazing endeavour thriving.
