Best Things: Postbox Courier
Oh my gosh, I’m so frustrated! I’ve been working like a dog (a dalmation?) so I decided to treat myself by splashing out on this gorgeous shoe. Although it’s priced in Euros, it is on sale, and they have my size and colour, but…Β they bloody well don’t ship to South Africa. Aargh!
There is a solution, I’m glad to say, by the name ofΒ Postbox CourierΒ β a company specialising in leapfrogging the South African postal system, and helping locals get their goodies from abroad.
I was contacted by Ken from Postbox Courier a couple of weeks ago, offering me a test run of his service, which I used on getting clothes for my bloke (not on shoes for moi!), and I was very impressed.
In a nutshell, Postbox Courier offers a central address in the US, UK or Hong Kong, to which you can have multiple parcels shipped. Then, when you’re ready, you can consolidate the lot, and have it delivered to your door. It works like a bomb, and is especially good for situations where delivery to SA is not part of the standard offering, which is frequently the case.
Postbox CourierΒ has five R1000 vouchers for readers of Skinny laMinx (South African based only) to test-drive their service, so if you want to win one, please do the following:
- ‘Like’Β the Postbox Couriers Facebook Page
- Leave a comment on this postΒ saying what you would LOVE to get couriered to you.
Ken will choose a winner, and then five of you will be able to shop* and ship* to your heart’s content.
*Please note that the voucher is only for the Postbox Courier charges. Any purchasesΒ and any Customs charges levied areΒ all your own expense.

I love this idea! So clever. My sister’s birthday is coming up, and I’d love to get her a month’s subscription to Lootcrate, which unfortunately just doesn’t send to SA:) I’ve also had my eye on a few Etsy products….

Ah, what a thing this is. I’d be delighted to get my hands on a few acres of Rigid Indigo 32/36 501 Levi’s. It may seem odd, but the extra 2 inches on the 36 leg isn’t available on a single pair of 32 Levis you can get your hands on in SA. My Uncles worn them (almost exclusively) for 20 years or so, ordering them online or getting friends to bring them in- But its getting increasingly more difficult and expensive. What a treat it would be to do that for him with the level of convenience Postbox Courier offer, and to know that the option to do so again existed in the future.

Oh my word this is the most frustrating thing! Especially with the fashion being cropped legs – basically impossible to get jeans that suit me that are long enough haha! Good luck!

I would love to get a set of fabulous bed linen from Merci in Paris to my house..whhenever I travel there is never enough space to bring some back! But what colour? So many choices!

My very fussy husband’s birthday is coming up and I can never find him anything he likes HERE. And so, if you and Postbox Courier would be so kind as to let me win, I will pass it ALL on to him. I know he has his eye on a very special collector’s edition guitar he saw on e-bay and I know that he will make himself and everyone around him happy with some lovely tunes!

Without a shadow of a doubt, I’d shop for smalls at Ikea and have it delivered to SA thanks to Postbox Courier. Storage baskets, wall hooks, toys and linen for our newborn baby boy…I’d have a field day! ?

It’s tempting here in South Africa to buy cheap replicas of classic designer furniture – the exchange rate, shipping cost and import duties are enough to have you second guessing the quality and investment of the real thing. If I won this competition, I’d take the opportunity to buy the real thing: an Eames Hang it All coat rack, which has been ripped off by local retailers – but the original would bring a pop of joy to my arrival home every day π

Thank you for sharing Ken and Skinny la Minx.
I would love to courier a new pair or two of Converse shoes.
Happy early 40th to me!!

There are so many things I’ve seen for sale on Etsy that I’d love, but they either don’t ship here, or the shipping costs are ridiculous! I think I’d also like to buy some pretty stationery from the “A Beautiful Mess” online shop – the shipping prices have put me off in the past. Holding thumbs!

A mini city jogger GT double pram or mountain buggy duet , the one/ two prams no one imports to South Africa, I always want what I can’t have , oh how my priorities in life have changed.

I really want a new pair of adult styled boots for this Winter for my ridiculously small (children’s size) feet. Only available from speciality shoe shops in London. Trouble is that getting them posted here, on top of the already hefty price tag makes it a rare luxury to order. And always the worry that it would actually arrive if posted. What a great idea this Postbox Courier is.
