Friends & Neighbours: BOFRED
Although Bofred was only started in 2014, their beautiful furniture, lights and other designs have been spotted all over local interiors mags. I liked what they’re doing so much that I approached them to include one of their furniture pieces in the BRISE SOLEIL Lookbook.
Owners Carla Erasmus and Christa Botha had two of their Slipper chairs available, and we chose to re-cover them in the Breeze print, in petrol, as well as in the re-issued Brancusi Stripe, in shell pink. Both turned out beautifully!
In fact, we used even more Bofred pieces in the Lookbook, with the Moa light and Twins mirror adding the finishing touch to our Palm Springs look (see here).
Bofred has just moved into beautiful premises on Buitenkant Street, just above Truth Coffee, so I was excited to visit their brand new showroom (visits by appointment only), where Carla and Christa gave me a warm welcome, and told me a little more about Bofred:
“We see our brand as an eclectic mix of vibrant colours, rich textures and artistic one of a kind furniture items. We curate and design each piece according to our own creative style, influenced by current design styles, as well as our own travels and artmaking.
We started the business based on our great need to create products that are unique. We felt that there was a market and that we could add to it, by offering original designs and something artistic and creative.
We are self-taught, and our only field of expertise lies in our creative decision making and executions.”
“Artists, designers and home-owners alike contact us with proposals, exchanges & ideas. We are very open to the idea of collaborating, especially when we learn from other designers.”
Visit the Bofred website to see more of their lovely range (including these awesome tapestries), and sign up for their newsletter to keep up with this talented duo. Do note that their showroom is for visits by appointment only.
