“Ferro forjado” is wrought iron in Portuguese
Something that really caught my eye while in Portugal was the amazingly expressive and varied ferro forjado (portuguese for wrought iron, y’know) on doors, windows and balconies, so here’s a selection of fine specimens, spotted in Lisbon, Aveiro and Porto. I hope you enjoy these exuberant and expressive lines as much as I have.
It’s not just about the super curly-wurly, either. Simple ferro forjado wins too (especially when shadows get involved)!
If you like this kind of thing, take a look at my Grilles & Gates of Lisbon post from last year too.
