Friends & Neighbours: Jack Floris
Our shop manager Janine Loynes has another string to her bow: her own fashion label called Jack Floris. While she’s been on maternity leave, Janine decided to merge her joint passion for Jack Floris and Skinny laMinx into an adorable range of cycling caps, modelled here by her bike-mad husband Paul (aka the artist Senyol).
Janine started Jack Floris in 2014, naming her brand for her father’s traditional Afrikaans name Floris Jacobus (with a contemporary twist), when she decided to put her tailoring background to use by making a unisex day-to-day line for the Cape Town commuter.
This is what Janine says about how she came up with the idea for these caps:
“My love for print was sparked when I started working at Skinny LaMinx and fell in love with the textile designs.
While working as store manager, I noticed all the scraps accumulating in the production studio upstairs, and thought they’d be great to make into cycle caps!
This set in motion the idea to do a limited edition range and shoot them with my husband Paul in our studio here in Woodstock.”
Jack Floris X Skinny laMinx cycle caps are produced in Cape Town, and are sold as limited editions at Woodstock Cycleworks and selected retailers. Find Janine on Instagram @Jack_Floris .Visits to the Jack Floris studio in Woodstock are by appointment only.
