Making Friday: Snakes!
Honestly, I don’t know why this is happening, but I keep drawing, weaving and printing snake motifs. Someone said it’s a symbol for change, so I’ll go with that.
The snake at the top of this post is one I made at Baobab Batik when I was there in April with Ace Camps. He’s pretty friendly-looking, even for a snake.

My woven snake, on the other hand, has a menacing air. Weaving this taught me a lot about curves and vertical joins..

This little stamped snake has something of a logo about it. Any lawyers out there looking for a new brand identity?

Snakes are great to draw. They’ve got such sinuous, active energy, and while I’m unlikely to turn any of these into a textile print, maybe it’s time to give the snake a bit of a break. Yessssssss.
