Threadcount Collective Reunite
10 years ago, Jane Solomon of FabricNation, Tracy Rushmere of Shine-Shine , me of Skinny laMinx, and Melissa Kerkhoff of Lula Fabrics, all had a textile collective that we called the Threadcount Collective.
At the time, the textile industry in Cape Town was falling apart, and so the four of us would get together once a month to talk about our challenges, and we’d look for solutions together. In 2010 we shared a booth at the Design Indaba, which is when Good Taste magazine put together the terrific story you see in the pics here.

I learned an enormous amount from these strong and generous women, which is why I’m so thrilled that we’re doing the Fabric Bar at Decorex in the first week of May. It’s as if the Threadcount Collective has come full circle… a full decade later. It’s so great to be working with everyone again… and to know that we’ve all managed to keep our businesses going all this time, despite all the speedbumps and obstacles in the way.
