Making Friday: Be More Fabulous
I’ve started a new needlepoint recently, with “Be More Fabulous” on it, and as I stitch, I’ve been thinking about these words, which I took from a headline in Elle Decoration UK a few years back.
To me, being fabulous is not about being flashy or well dressed or making a social splash. I say it’s a state of mind, and these words on a pillow are a reminder to put in the effort to be much more than you think you can be.
Dare I make a connection between needlepoint and the Covid crisis and the Black Lives Matter protests in the US? While neither of these topics are subjects for frivolity, can we see how they’re calling out to us to be so much more fabulous than we generally settle for?
I can do better, that’s for sure.
I can be more lavish with my time, more imaginative with my money, more generous with my knowledge, my contacts, my networks, aiming to make the best of what I have, so that others can have more.
Your fabulous generosity with our recent sale of the masks I’d stitched to raise funds for our seamstress team tells me you’re the same.
Here’s to a more fabulous future.
