    WDC2014: A big yellow DOT

    30 Jan 2014

A week or so ago, I wrote a blog post that summarised the way we’d started thinking about Cape Town as World Design Capital 2014. In a nutshell, our WDC2014 manifesto of OWN IT, PAINT IT, WORK IT simply means that we need to take this year-long event by the horns ourselves.

And that’s exactly what we did yesterday, going large on our WDC2014 window, and putting up a giant yellow dot (it’s GIANT! You can see it from space, I swear!) on the facade of the Skinny laMinx storefront and studio at 201 Bree Street.

I didn’t get a lot of work done all day, as I kept popping downstairs to photograph the team from Mila, hard at work. Here’s a little summary of the day’s progress:

I can’t wait to see more big yellow dots / yellow front doors / yellow polka dots going up all over the city. Tell me when yours is up, ok?

Crasy yellow polka dots, crasy viral marketing! I’m already infected and would like do it, in Germany… 😉

I saw The Dot on my way home yesterday…. What a great idea! Will step up to the challenge at our office in The Old Biscuit Mill.

Great idea. Cape Town is so lucky to have you! We, in Durban, are lucky to be getting a bright yellow ” designer container” on our beachfront serving ‘AFROS’ chicken. Opening soon!

      Hi Heather,

I absolutely love it! Wish I had a storefront to do something outrageous with, but I’ll have to settle for being a “moving” supporter by wearing yellow as often as possible. I’ve also snuck-in (is that a word?) some yellow into my graphic design work for my clients without complaint!

      PS. I’m a huge fan!
      Take care
      Lisa
