Mating in captivity

The February issue of Fairlady magazine has an article on why the sex lives of married couples often go kaput, based on Esther Perel’s book, Mating in Captivity. I did the illustrations.

This one was published as a full pager:

And the next brightened up the DPS that followed. It’s a long article!
Both illustrations were made by cutting paper with my NT cutter. I wanted to get a more handmade effect for these illustrations so, instead of my usual approach of cutting black vinyl and then scanning and colouring, I cut paper in the colours I wanted to use. The confetti is, I must confess, made in Illustrator.I’m rather appalled that I used a font on the little tombstone instead of handlettering. What was I thinking? I’ll have to blame end-of-the-yearness for that grave error.
