Bargain of the (mid)century
I was feeling a bit overloaded, iffy and grumpy yesterday afternoon, so I thought I’d distract myself by opening another chapter in my neverending quest for the perfect credenza.
There was no credenza to be found, but look what was waiting for me at the top of Kloof Street:
It’s an appalling photo, taken in the last gleam of daylight on a gloomy day, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s from Midwinter, the design is Sienna, it was designed by the versatile and talented Jessie Tate, and… it’s all mine! AND…It cost R250. Yes, it did.Americans, that’s $35. Brits, it’s a snip at 18 Pounds. Incredible! My mood improved quite startlingly, and my frequent peeks inside our kitchen cupboards seem to be working at keeping the grumpiness at bay.

My mum collects Midwinter and I love it too. Her favourite is Domino – red with polka dots. Great find!

Nice job! I have that very set too- I got mine when a company I used work for were replacing their old china in the lunchroom and happily let me take it off their hands for nuthin’!

Amazing to see how many of you have this set (and Zee got it for free!). I’m loving using it, especially the soup plates with their little saucers.
