New Studio
New studio and old studio
So this is the new studio! It’s still in a bit of disarray, but I like it. Before we moved in, I was calling it “The Cave”, because it’s so long and narrow and a bit dark. But brightening the walls with a fresh coat of paint has made a world of difference, and now I’m saying things like, “This is better than the old place”! Fickle me.
Anyway, before taking leave of the fourth floor of 77 Hout St entirely, here are some pics of the old place.
Sigh. I must have a short memory – it really was fantastic…

It’s going to be great! I always have a hard time to say goodbye to places I loved working. It seems like your old studio had much more light though?

sjoe the old studio was really nice… With how many artist did you share it? But I think the new space is going to be just as great! so just enjoy the new beginning!

I think that what made it fantastic was all the great work that came out of it. And the new one will soon have that “glow” too.
Just look at it as a chance for new ideas to swim to the top in new surroundings.
You’ll be just fine….*S*

hello heather…lots of good karma for your new studio coming your way…got it yet?
i have a stoopid question that i’ve always wanted to ask people (well, you and maybe pati-piri or whatever the name is) who screen print tea towels…do you print on to readymade tea towels? just always wanted to know. x

I think both old and new studios are fab in their different ways.
Love the new look to the blog too!

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone! I think I’m so relieved to have things out of boxes and ready to roll, that I’d work just about anywhere!
Janine: There are four of us in our studio. Everyone is a painter except me. Their spaces are nice and neat. Mine is an explosion!
Lu: I buy fabric on a roll and get some people with knives to cut it into teatowel-sized pieces, then have them printed before hemming. First time round I hemmed the pieces first, but it made screenprinting difficult, because the extra layer meant the screen wasn’t quite flush with the fabrics.
Cheers,
Heather

ahhhh, thanks heather, that’s one little mystery i shall wonder no more at! (i wondered if the extra ‘wodge’ of fabric would be a pain, and the answer is yes!)
GORGEOUS new design, love it muchly
