Ch-ch-Che-Changes
It really isn’t a current affairs kind of blog, this, but I can’t let the resignation of our president and 11 cabinet ministers go totally unremarked. And all this political upheaval is pretty compelling. I find myself racing from radio news to internet comment in a rather unseemly desire to hear more, and my studio is constantly abuzz with talk of politics these days. It’s all weirdly addictive.
I guess we’ve been born and bred on a diet of crazy politics and we’d miss it if it were gone, but sheesh, wouldn’t it be nice to have a country that’s just a teensy bit boring?
On a lighter note, it seems that our prez is not the only one to get the push – my surname’s in the firing line too! My big brother took this pic in Durban, and this is what he had to say on the matter:
“Finally – our counter-revolutionary surname has been erased from the Colonial Heritage of Ethekwini”.
Ah well, life goes on. Now, let me go and check the news again…

Well Heather, don’t feel inappropriate – being an artist makes you passionate about politics too and our studio talks about it all the time too! Here’s hoping that our beautiful country emerges stronger from the adversity.

I know how you feel! I studied and lived in Durban for a few years and know Moore Rd well. Sad to see it go!

I love the way they left the old sign up and put a big red line through it! Oh my.

Great photo. …and yes… interesting times. 😕

Wouldn’t it be great if the world was a little boring and we didn’t always seem one step away from falling off the Earth?
I wish it were that way. Hopefully, it will all work out over there!

If you don’t read the crossed-out signs in Durban at the moment – you feel as if you are in a foreign city! Sorry that your name was added to the list of has-beens!
