South Africa got television in the 70’s, and my family only took the leap in 1979. At that time, transmission only began at 6pm, and the rest of the time there was only the test pattern to watch. And watch it we did! Fascinating.
I hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane as the test pattern on the TV cushion entertains you. Transmission on this blog will be down for a day or two while I try to catch up with my Pending email folder, etc, etc.

This single image awakens in me so many memories! It´s true: we did watch it!
Actually, the other day I was thinking it had been a while since I last saw it, and missed it so much, as now they have this “telesales” thing with fabulous abs machines and the such going on all the time…
In Hong Kong they had “telefishion”, which was just a camera pointed to an aquarium with its fish swimming around, going about their normal lives…
(all these memories because of your post, thank you!) 🙂

Wow that really is haunting. What really makes me wonder is who on earth hung on to the final art work for this long?!
