Wow, I really needed that. I’ve been feeling on the verge of burning out lately, with the tyranny of the To Do list looming far too large in my mind. A plan had to be made, so Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week were spent hiding behind an email ‘Away’ message while I mucked …

This week
I’m stepping AWAY from the computer this week, in order to get my teeth into preparing new things for the products catalogue due out in August. It’s very exciting to put up that ‘away’ message and to know that this simple act releases me (to a degree) from the tyranny of my email inbox. And …

Making Friday 19 April
Due to my studio revamp, I couldn’t wait for Making Friday to put all that workspace to use! I was cutting and stitching by Wednesday last week, whipping up some cute little fabric buckets as I think about what to put in the new catalogue this year.

Rough Cuts
It’s a big day today, as we have our press launch of the Rough Cuts fabric collection this evening. We’re billing Rough Cuts as “a collection inspired by Scandinavian style, but perfectly at home in Africa”. This is because, while I designed it in my usual clean, simple style, when I teamed it up with Binky …

Sketching at the Design Indaba
I have splashed out MAJORLY and bought myself a mini-sabbatical / a ticket to the Design Indaba Conference. I spent today at the CTICC listening to an amazing array of speakers (including Paula Scher, Seymour Chwast and Alexander Chen! See the full lineup here), and will continue to bask in the super-inspiring presence of other …
