Plumberry Weeds
Plumberry Weeds
I’ve admitted before that I have a strong aversion to the colour purple, but for some reason, I felt compelled to print Summer Weeds in a rather purpley new colourway. Maybe I’m starting to soften on the purple issue at last. And just in time too, it seems: I heard Design*Sponge saying on Tuesday that purple is hot hot hot!
Anyway, to distract myself, I’m calling the colour “Plumberry”, and I actually think it looks really nice! Hop on over to my shop to see more pics.
PS: I was supposed to have a brand new teatowel design on my Etsy shelves this week, but it seems I still have lots to learn about the silkscreening process. Sniff. Still, watch this space cos I think it’ll turn out well in the end…

oh how beautiful!
I love the colour purple, but only certain tones, as a child i hated it, my mother used to dress me in lilac and violet and i wanted to wear boy colours.
Claire
It’s lovely.
Like lula cat, I am quite specific about the purples that I like. In fact I am pretty specific about all the colours that I like.
It may be just my screen, but this purple looks nice and dusky.
The print is beautiful.

Purple is hot? Oh no… I was still coming to terms with yellow, the hot colour last time I looked. At least this purple is easy to love!

Ohhh I’m totally with you on the purple thing! What is it with that colour that’s just not agreeable! But I’ve had the same thoughts about needing to print something in it one day… and I think you’ve done a wonderful job of it. Not too purply at all and I love the name 🙂
Heather Moore
Ah, thanks for all the encouragement. The use of the word “dusky” alongside “purple” does seem to temper it, and perhaps I just need to be more clear on exactly what shade of purple gives me the horrors. A new vocabulary for the shades of purple is needed! Mauve won’t do. Ick.
