Treasure hunting
15 Jul 2008

Oh lovely! I am embarrassed to say that I’ve never visited the Milnerton market, But I am going to! I blogged about my carboot sale finds yesterday – there is a lovely carboot sale near our house once a month – and the prices are crazy! I paid R5 for the old jelly mould, R5 for the little silverplated apple, R20 for the eight crocheted placemats (plus eight little coasters plus a small table runner) and R5 for the buttons …

This weekend was a bumper Market day, wasn’t it? We came home with a laundry basket, wall clock, half price chocolates and nuts, an espresso cup set, a 8mm projector and a giant full length solid oak workbench! With a pancake or two to finish it off! What a great day
Milnies was good on Sunday, we went with R 200 and got a fisher price ‘lift and load depot’ circa 1977, four cheese spring rolls (between the four of us – but Maria didn’t have any cause she’s got no teeth) pistachio nuts, June and July’s Vogue, a retro china jug and some very tiny tiny tupperware and still had change left to buy a small farm in the karoo with…

Wow, it seems we’ve all been having luck at the market lately.
*Darkchocolate, Milnies is every weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. I think Sunday’s usually better.
*Bob, I saw that Lift and Load depot, and you’ll be pleased to know that Marion had spent all her money by then.
*Xander, it sounds like you’re keen to come back – but do wait for summer!
